Chef’s Note: “This is a lot of food” seems like an understatement here, Father Matt – don’t you think? Identifying and cataloging it all has taken me no small amount of time (see #tags above). Please feel free to comment below if you notice I’ve missed something significant.
For example, what is Jen munching on in the first panel when they are eating at Le Poisson d’Avril? Is she beasting an entire loaf of garlic bread?
By the way, when they get to the next place, Jen mentions “Tonkatsu” but since they’re slurping ramen I’m pretty sure she meant “Tonkotsu“.
All that said, at first glance this all seems like Jen indulging in her appetite in typical Hulk-like fashion.*
But then the usually restrained Father Matt starts noshing down like a starving puppy as well, which alerts us to the fact that something else might be going on here… the reason for which I will not reveal as this is a quite recent comic book moment and some of you true believers may not have had a chance to read it yet.
And you should! There’s a scene a bit later on involving gelato that is most amusing.
