Batman S02E52 (1967)
Written by Charles Hoffman
Directed by Oscar Rudolph
Starring (in this scene): Adam West as Batman, Burt Ward as Robin, Vann Williams as Green Hornet, Bruce Lee as Kato
Chef’s Note: We’ve previously discussed the existence of secret food pockets in superhero suits.
It should come as no surprise that Batman, given his general inventiveness and his overt predilection for soup, has an Alphabet Soup Bat Container and Bat Soup Funnel on his person at all times.
In this scene it is clear a secret pocket is at work. He does some kind of bat-shimmy-shammy and then produces both from behind his back. Both are sizeable and do not look collapsible so I don’t think any other explanation makes sense.
Upon further thought, if he’s able to keep those back there without altering his outline then it’s possible he has a whole array of thermoses back there: Tomato, Chicken Noodle, Mulligatawny, Leek & Potato… maybe even a small Bat Spice Rack.
We know he carries cutlery so I really wouldn’t put it past him.
The latest culinary novelty is alphabetical soup. Instead of the usual cylindric and star shaped morsels of macaroni which have hitherto given body to our broth, the letters of the alphabet have been substituted. These letters of paste preserve their forms in passing through the pot.
Chef’s Note: Happy National Soup Day!
