Fugu reportedly has a quite mild flavor, which could then be easily hidden within the buttery tones of a yellow tail, not to mention smothered in a sweet and smoky black bean sauce. It doesn’t take much fugu to get the nervous system failing, so a little would go a long way. And Bruce is certainly tucking it away.
Not to mention, there is precedent:
A Wuhan woman called the police to report that her boyfriend died, but became implicated when the forensic report revealed blowfish poison as the cause of death. However, she claimed that he died accidentally due to drinking a cocktail of yogurt, pufferfish toxin, and sleeping pills that she was going to use to off herself. … Police however, were not convinced by Xiao’s stories and decided to charge her for attempted murder on the grounds that she bought and mixed the puffer fish poison into yogurt, invited the boyfriend to her apartment and did not try to save him after realizing that he had been poisoned.
Chef’s Note: It is worthwhile to note that if the members of the nefarious restaurant gang here had kept up to date with their Hulk comics, they would have known how he feels about being served fish.
