Girl Comics #2 (2010)

Chef’s Note: We have discussed before the re-purposing of superhero powers &/or skills for culinary ends and here we see an excellent example of it.
Elsa has obviously studied the blade and, as such, does not have to take the tedious and time-consuming road to sammich-making that most of us plebes must plod.
Chef’s Note: The more important question is, of course, what kind of sammich is she making here?
The tomatoes seem pretty standard. And that’s definitely a swiss cheese. I’m going to say the lettuce is some nice crunchy romaine. As for the meats – salami seems the obvious choice for the first panel, and if you’ll notice at the top of the third panel, there seems to be a small ham, given the standard cross-hatching on its skin.
And finally, the bread – white, thick, fluffy-looking, with a nice brown crust? Obviously: sourdough.
Sounds like a perfect sammich! So tragic.
Chef’s Note: Happy National Sourdough Day!
