Did you just use lightning to make toast?

The Wicked & The Divine #25 (2017)

Chef’s Note:  I always appreciate seeing superpowers being repurposed for culinary ends. This scene depicts Baal’s lightning power in a light-hearted way but it also demonstrates the immense and precise control he exerts over it.

Consider the following:

Physicists have calculated that a typical lightning bolt discharges some 5 billion joules of energy, enough to make 100,000 slices of toast using a 1,000W, two-slice toaster for 84,000 minutes. There is, however, the issue of withstanding the enormous surges in energy generated by a strike.

From what I can tell, Baal made six slices of toast. So if we divide 100,000 potential slices by the six in the rack we end up with him having exerted 0.006% of his power.

That is some serious precision & finesse!

Chef’s Note:  Happy National Toast Day!
