Chef’s Note: As often, there is a lot going on here. But the detail that catches my scholarly eye is the microwave oven in use at Goldie Grub’s Diner.
I have never seen a microwave oven with what looks looks like a control panel on top and door that opens, garage style, from a top hinge (WTH?)-
First of all, don’t microwave pie – they may not have known this back in the blinkered days of the 1980s, but we all know better now.
But seriously, while we all know that comic book writers and artists are given to, shall we say, “making things up”, I’m still curious is this was ever an actual real world design.
Kitchen equipment design aficionados, please do share any insights you may have in the comments!
Of course, if Mr. Mishkin, Mr. Cohn, &/or Mr. Cullins would like to enlighten us, that would be most welcome as well.
Chef’s Note: Happy National Apple Pie Day!
