Chef’s Note: Greetings, salutations, and hello! Long time, no? As you may know, I’ve been off and away on a much needed sabbatical. But then I saw that National Hot Dog Day was upon us and, given the original (and ongoing) inspiration for this very important scholarly endeavor, I decided it was a most excellent day to get back to into it.
While it is true that this project is meant to primarily focus on superheroes actually eating food, I think it is worth appreciating this brief nod to Spider-Man’s well-known connection to hot dogs and food carts.
Chef’s Note: Also of interest here is the fact that it is a Halal food cart.
The origin of the halal cart is disputed, but The Halal Guys was one of the first, starting off as a hot dog cart in Midtown Manhattan, New York City, before switching to halal food in the 1990s. As early as 2007, halal carts had already begun displacing hot dog carts as the city’s dominant form of street food.
Chef’s Note: Don’t miss the new spin off movie coming out soon – Marvel’s Street Vendor!
