Chef’s Note: This issue is a good example of what Squirrel Girl is all about. It is, of course, a big ongoing joke that she has defeated many immensely powered peeps in the Marvel superhero world. A girl? With the powers of a squirrel? It is to laugh! Ha ha.
But she doesn’t defeat Galactus through super powers of punching or some other macho brouhaha. She identifies what he really is looking for (CALORIES! I mean LIFE ENERGY!) and tries to help the best she can. And because she has a magic squirrel friend (Tippy Toes!) who knows how to locate a planet made of nothing but NUTS (a.k.a. “an organic storage unit holding a small amount of matter” – filled with proteins, vitamins, carbohydrates, life energy, etc.), she can help quite a lot.
Empathy, gustatory know-how, savvy negotiation, social networking – these are all superpowers if you use them that way.
Chef’s Note: No, we did not include Galactus actually eating a planet made entirely of nuts. Why? Because it’s boring! He’s just doing that hands-stuck-out sucking-up-all-the-energy thing. Yawn.
Chef’s Note: Happy Spring Equinox, good peoples! Our sun and our planet Earth have not been devoured yet!
