Chef’s Note: An amazing and poignant scene, without a doubt. There is something very powerful about the idea of a silent toast – traditional oration foregone in favor of a simple act of witness, and remembrance.
That said, if this is how spies really say good bye then I’m pretty sure all they all then get bagged and tagged and rendered to a black site on their way out the door because how in the world does not everyone in the bar see what is going on? I mean, the waitress at the very least must be catching all this?
And the spook in a suit at the bar – he’s getting fired. Right?
Chef’s Note: It’s a bit difficult to know how to tag this as the shots they are given are never identified. Most are of an amber hue, so I’m assuming whiskey/whisky. But then Mack is definitely drinking something clear. Gin? Vodka? Ouzo? Everclear?
At least I can identify the beer with a good amount of certainty: Bendeery English Ale
