Chef’s Note: Remember, remember, the fifth of November…
Chef’s Note: I must say I quite approve of V’s choice for breakfast here – Egg In The Basket is truly one of the more perfect breakfast dishes ever created. This is made evident by how many different names it has, which surely is evidence of its broad appeal. In any case, it is certainly a nourishing meal worthy of healing the difficulties of a dark night.
And too: the apron. He could have been wearing one made of black sackcloth, or leather, or any of a variety of tough guy fabrics.
Instead, frills and flowers- he is creating a welcoming and warm place to enjoy one’s repast. It’s probably the reason he forgets his gloves.
And lastly, please take note of V’s deft skill with a spatula and frying pan – he double flips the Egg In The Basket, so as to not break the sunny-side top! That is some top level chef’s finesse.
Still, given his skill with knives, perhaps this should not be so surprising.
