Chef’s Note: I am most intrigued, and somewhat concerned, as to the process Desmond came up with here to produce coffee that tastes so sublime one is driven to zealous threats of violence.
Jon talks about Desmond being green-thumbed and how he was seeing what would grow in Krakoa’s fertile soils, so the simplest explanation is he grew some coffee beans.
And his green-thumbs and Krakoa’s rich soils ended up bearing very good fruit. It looks like they’ve also got some kind of high-end coffee machine as well.
It all makes sense. And I am happy to accept it as the simplest and best theory… mostly.
The thing is, Desmond actually just has green-colored thumbs. In fact, he’s green all over – green everything. So Jon may have not been referencing any actual agricultural skill.
And given that Desmond’s mutant power is that of an animal empath (hence his superhero name), not to mention Mondo’s quite ominous witness statement, I just want to make sure we’re not in Kopi Luwak territory here.
Because no.
Just no.
