Chef’s Note: This all starts out so nicely – expressions of team solidarity and community support.
But then almost immediately, Victor starts being stingy with his curried roti.
Jaime gently chides him in terms of past shared meals, and even goes so far as to invoke the ancient childhood law of halvsies, but Victor remains unmoved and ungenerous. Luckily, Tatsu has no patience for Victor’s nonsense and solves the issue with samurai straightforwardness.
But why is he being so tight fisted? You would think that he, out of all of them, would be an advocate of fully automated luxury communism.*
But no! He even complains about the rest of the JLA wanting to have some offered for free dumplings! It’s really quite a puzzle…
Let’s review the facts-
- He’s attending an Asian American / Pacific Islander festival, so it’s extremely unlikely it’s the LAST ONE
- He’s actually working the festival as security, so it seems quite likely he’s getting his food comped
- Even if he’s not getting comped, is he really so poor he can’t afford another curried roti? I’m assuming he can access any ATM he wants with ease
- Food is literally just an indulgence for him
All in all, it is obvious Victor is acting quite irrationally – which is an issue of some concern when dealing with a cybernetic entity. I’m just wondering if his teammates need to check in with him here? At least let him know that there’s enough curried roti (& dumplings!) to share?
