Captain America: Civil War (2016)
Written by Stephen McFeely & Christopher Markus
Directed by Joe & Anthony Russo
Starring (in this scene): Elizabeth Olsen as Scarlet Witch, Paul Bettany as Vision
Chef’s Note: One might ask why The Vision, a synthezoid with a computer brain that has a direct lightning-fast connection to the whole World Wide Web and all other data and communication systems, needs to be consulting printed-out recipes from Saveur.com?
That would be a good question, and it likely has to do with The Vision’s general desire to seem more human than robot, but the real question here is what Paprikash recipe is he consulting that only calls for simply a “pinch” of paprika? Not Saveur’s…
Chicken Paprikash (Paprikás Csirke)
Ingredients
1⁄4 cup lard or canola oil
1 (3-4 lb.) chicken, cut into 8 pieces
1 large yellow onion, minced
3 tbsp. Hungarian sweet paprika, plus more for garnish
2 cups chicken stock
2 plum tomatoes, cored, seeded, and cut into 1″ pieces
1 Italian frying pepper, stemmed, seeded, and cut into 1″ pieces
1⁄2 cup sour cream, for serving
Kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste
Traditionally Paprikash calls for at least 3 tablespoons or so of paprika so if Vision only put in a pinch, it is likely bland as can be – no wonder Wanda makes a face!
Speaking of Wanda, I very much appreciate that she takes time to smell the herbs she is using before adding them to the dish. That is the mark of a good cook! ❤️
