Chef’s Note: What are we to make of this hero’s meal: Chi Vhap Chi Chi?
It seems to be a stew. Visible ingredients include asparagus, cervelles, turkey (head and feet), and some kind of fish. Garnishes perhaps include an olive(?), cherry tomato, and a mysterious green cube. There’s also a small side dish with something small and red chopped up in it.
All in all, quite the concoction! Fish head stew is, of course, a dish served in many places.
Brain stew too!
But I have never come across whole turkey heads before (just necks), and certainly not all of these mixed into a single dish.
So unless this is some super obscure Eastern European dish, I’m going to go with Ben’s initial assessment and conclude that Victor is just messing with Ben here and likely instructed his cooks to dream up something disgusting just to watch Ben squirm.
The fact that he makes sure Ben sees the burger Victor had instead of this hero’s meal is what clinches it all.
Given Victor’s general focus on decorum and manners, I feel like Ben could have simply asked “Is this kosher?” and Victor’s whole prank would have fallen apart.
Chef’s Note: While it is interesting to note here that Victor apparently enjoys the classic American treat of a good cheeseburger and fries, I find it even more intriguing that he is also apparently a fan of prune juice.
Which, after all, really shouldn’t be that surprising.
