Chef’s Note: Here we see a quite young, but still quite clever and potent, Zatanna discovering the mysteries and delights of getting dental braces.
I had braces as a kid and I can confirm that they are as ugly and messy and painful as shown here (though I never used incantation magic to turn my braces into a ersatz jail for a food court thief, I must admit).
That said, the disruption of long held eating habits was truly the worst of it all for me – no more corn on the cob, no more nuts, no more candy, no more crunching into a delicious apple, no more taco nights, no bagels, no chips, no Cheerios straight out of the box, no granola, no Saltines or Cheez-Its, no more toasting marshmallows, no more crunching ice cubes… the list went on and on.
So, I am very pleased to see her father here recognizing the difficult journey ahead and making sure she has enough taco provisions before she embarks.
Chef’s Note: Happy National Taco Day!
